I often get e-mail from folks who don't find our humor to their liking, and that's alright. Not everyone agrees on what is funny and what's not. I received the e-mail below in September of 1997. I probably would have simply trashed the e-mail if Keith hadn't asked the question: "I wonder who it appeals to?"
I noticed that Keith's return e-mail address was "@jcrew.com". I recognized the name "J Crew" as a very large and well know men's clothing catalog retailer. I decided to visit their site at www.jcrew.com and see who their site appealed to.
I decided to word my reply using some of the same overly macho descriptive language used on their site to describe what they called "The J Crew Man." They also used the odd term "dominant" to describe their blue jeans. I also decided to use that term as well in the return e-mail.
Sadly, I never heard back from Keith.

Hi Keith,
Sorry to find that our site didn't appeal to your taste. In answering your question on who
our site appeals to, our market research tell us it very well liked by:
Males who are road ready, enjoy pickup games during study breaks on bright autumn days.
They are admired for their solid footing and the sound checks they write to buy cheaply
made and over priced clothing from mail order catalogs. We tend to call our typical male
visitor "Dominant Jean" after a guy named Jean who is into dominance and writing
nasty e-mail to people whose humor does not conform to his. He used to be called
"Dominant Keith" but changed his name to "Jean" after deciding
"Keith" was a little too feminine.
Thanks for your note and question on our site demographics. I also want to thank you for
using the word "puerile" in your note. I honest to god didn't know what it
meant. I had to pull out the old dictionary and look it up. I now know that it means
"childish" and "immature", two words that truly do describe
www.jokewallpaper.com.
Have a great weekend.
Best Regards,
Steve Kremer
